U.S. Stocks Close Sharply Higher

The main stock indexes on the U.S. Wall Street exchange closed higher at the end of today’s trading session, driven by gains in technology stocks.

The S&P 500 index rose by 108.85 points, or 2.02 percent, to close at 5,484.71 points. The Nasdaq Composite index climbed by 452.96 points, or 2.71 percent, to reach 17,161.01 points at the close.

 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average also increased by 483.28 points, or 1.22 percent, to end the session at 40,089.85 points.
