Cameroonian President Paul Biya on Thursday warned that the escalating crises and conflicts across the globe pose a significant threat to the existing international system.
"Despite the international community's commendable efforts, our world is still under the scourge of terrorism, multiple violations of state sovereignty and the decline of international law," Biya said during a traditional annual ceremony where top government officials and members of the diplomatic corps gathered to exchange New Year greetings.
"If we continue down this path, there is every reason to fear that the international system, which we have spent so much time and effort building, will ultimately collapse," he said.
He stressed the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and reconciliation, urging the international community to strengthen the role of the United Nations in resolving conflicts.
