The Egyptian and British navies have concluded the joint maritime exercise, the Alexandria Defender, at the Alexandria Naval Base under the Northern Fleet command, the Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesman stated on Monday.
The exercise, which lasted several days, involved elements of Egyptian and British naval special forces and special operations units, reflecting growing military cooperation and expanded exchange of expertise between both sides.
Training activities included visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) operations on suspicious vessels, close-quarters combat in confined spaces, hostage rescue scenarios, battlefield first aid, and medical evacuation drills, in addition to live-fire tactical shooting exercises.
The Armed Forces said the drills demonstrated a high level of professionalism and readiness among participating forces and further strengthened joint operational capabilities. Senior naval commanders from both countries attended the closing phase of the exercise in Alexandria.
