Bayern Munich confirmed that Germany international Serge Gnabry has signed a contract extension until June 2028 on Thursday, securing his future with the Bundesliga record champions well ahead of the end of his current deal.
The 30-year-old had entered the season with his position under scrutiny after an inconsistent previous campaign, but the deal ensures he will remain in Munich for at least a ninth consecutive season. Of Bayern's current squad, only Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich have spent longer with the team.
Gnabry joined Bayern in 2017 and spent his first season on loan at Hoffenheim, before returning to his parent club in one of its most successful periods, winning six Bundesligs titles as well as the Champions League and the Club World Cup. His honors haul also includes domestic cups and multiple Super Cup triumphs.
"Serge Gnabry has grown with FC Bayern and is one of the absolute pillars of this team, on the pitch and in the dressing room he is extremely important," said Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl. "He has won everything with this club and still wants more. That makes him a role model. He stands for FC Bayern."
Gnabry himself underlined his attachment to the club after agreeing the extension. "I am delighted to be able to play for FC Bayern for several more years," he said. "The talks were consistently positive, and I would never have imagined that I would spend more than ten years here when I first arrived. My goals are that things continue like this. We are a real unit and can achieve great things."
The attacker has scored 100 goals and laid on 69 assists in 311 matches for Bayern, while earning 57 caps and 25 goals for Germany at senior international level.
Born in Stuttgart, Gnabry arrived in Munich via Arsenal, Werder Bremen and a loan spell at Hoffenheim. He has made more than 300 competitive appearances for Bayern and played for Germany at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
