We are delighted to invite you to attend and register for the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12), a global event dedicated to sustainable urbanization, organized by UN-Habitat, the United Nations entity responsible for cities and human settlements and housing issues. This year's highly anticipated forum will be held from 4 - 8 November 2024 in Cairo, Egypt, a historical and dynamic urban center, making it the ideal backdrop for discussions on the future of cities.

About WUF12

The World Urban Forum is the premier global conference on urbanization, attracting a diverse audience from across the globe. WUF12 will bring together policymakers, urban practitioners, city planners, sustainability experts, NGOs, and private sector leaders to explore how cities drive global transformation and benefit from sustainable development in a rapidly urbanizing world. “it all starts at home; local actions for sustainable cities and communities.”

Location: WUF12 will take place at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Center (CICC), an iconic venue equipped to host large-scale international gatherings. Cairo, with its rich cultural heritage and evolving urban landscape, will serve as a living example of the complexities and challenges cities face in the 21st century.

What journalists and broadcasters can expect: We understand the essential role that media plays in amplifying the impact of global events like WUF12. Therefore, accredited journalists and broadcasters will be provided with:

  • Dedicated media zones equipped with the latest facilities for live broadcasts and remote reporting.

How to participate

We invite journalists and media professionals to register for WUF12 by following the registration link: wuf.unhabitat.org.

The registration process is quick and easy, you need to choose Media partner, when asked to select your partner type.

The following media guidelines will apply for the international visiting media attending the World Urban Forum (WUF12):

  1. WUF accreditation is sufficient, and no additional accreditation is needed for the foreign online and print media to work at the World Urban Forum venue.

  2. WUF accredited foreign broadcast media needs to send an official letter to the Press Center for Foreign Correspondents to facilitate entrance of the broadcast equipment at the following email address: wuf12_media@hotmail.com

  3. The official request should include a list of delegation members with the following details: Name, Nationality, Profession, Affiliated Entity, Date of Birth, Passport Number, and an electronic PDF copy of the passport and list of equipment along with a copy of WUF12 registration and flight details arrival and departure.

    This information should be submitted before 4 October 2024, and please note that the below equipment’s are not allowed:

    • Drones

    • Live streaming or broadcasting units (TV U- Live View, etc.)

    • Protective Gear (Helmets – Vests, etc.)

  1. Accredited foreign media at WUF12 may conduct coverage outside the WUF12 venue. Pending obtaining clearance from authorities. To do so, they must follow the procedures outlined in point 2 and specify the topics and locations they intend to cover.

  2. International media representatives who are accredited in Egypt by the Egyptian press center for Foreign correspondents - State Information service should upload their press center ID photocopy
