Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Friday that it is important to renew the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon for another year for its vital role in promoting stability in southern Lebanon.

Meeting with an EU delegation headed by EU Ambassador to Lebanon Sandra De Waele, Salam stressed the government's determination to assert its authority across all Lebanese territory, in line with the Taif Agreement and the Ministerial Statement, according to the official National News Agency (NNA).

Salam briefed the delegation on the government's current reform trajectory and the key measures expected to be implemented in the coming weeks and months, the NNA reported.

The EU delegation reiterated its steadfast commitment to Lebanon, voicing continued support for the country's reform agenda, particularly in the economic, financial, and judicial sectors, the NNA reported.
