Pumas UNAM scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 home win over Club Tijuana in Mexico's Liga MX Apertura tournament on Sunday.
Goals from Jose Macias, Alvaro Angulo and Rodrigo Lopez gave the hosts a 3-0 lead at halftime, before Kevin Castaneda pulled one back from the penalty spot just after the hour.
Ruben Duarte restored his team's three-goal cushion with a 71st-minute strike as Pumas recorded their fourth win of the campaign.
The Mexico City-based club is now 10th in the 18-team standings with 18 points, three behind ninth-placed Tijuana with one matchday remaining in the regular season.
The top six teams will advance automatically to the quarterfinals while those finishing seventh to 10th will contest the play-in round for the remaining two spots.
Elsewhere in Mexico's top flight on Sunday, Queretaro won 1-0 at home to Mazatlan, and Guadalajara clinched a 1-0 away victory over Pachuca.
