If you've ever wanted to work in a royal palace then now could be the perfect opportunity. The Royal Household is currently advertising in Kensington Palace for a maintenance electrician - offering a salary of £38,000 per year.

Kensington Palace is the official London home of Prince William and Princess of Wales, Catherine, who have Apartment 1A and their offices are also in the palace. In previous generations, Kensington Palace was a favourite residence for English kings during the Georgian era and it is still now home to The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

An advert for role states you must ensure electrical systems are well maintained, operational and ready to support the various activities and events held at the royal palace. Benefits for the role include 25 days of annual leave, rising to 30 depending on how long you stay on the job.

The successful applicant will also get a 15 per cent employer pension contributions and a range of discounts such as 20 per cent off at Royal Collection shops.

William and Kate primarily lived in Kensington Palace until August 2022 when they relocated to Windsor near Lambrook School where George, Charlotte and Louis attend. The family moved into the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Great Park, but are set to move into the nearby eight-bedroom Forest Lodge as their 'forever home' before Christmas.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “The Wales family will move house later this year.” William and Kate are understood to be funding all renovations themselves, with Kate reportedly being seen picking new furniture for the property, including a 24-seater table.

As is the case with Adelaide Cottage, it is understood the Royals will not have any live-in staff and the plan is for Forest Lodge to remain their family home when the Prince and Princess of Wales become King and Queen.
