Russia's President Vladimir Putin has confirmed that his country agrees to proposals aimed at ending hostilities in Ukraine, leading to a lasting peace, and eliminating the causes of the crisis.

Putin added, during a press conference in the Kremlin following talks with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, that the situation in Kursk Oblast is completely under Russia's control, and that Russian forces are advancing in almost all combat zones.

The Russian president described the desire of world leaders to help end the fighting in Ukraine as a noble mission, expressing his gratitude to US President Donald Trump for his interest in a settlement in Ukraine.

Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's special envoy, arrived in Moscow Thursday to present a plan for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.

Ukraine agreed to the plan during talks with US officials in Saudi Arabia last Tuesday, as the US president seeks a swift end to the more than three-year war between Ukraine and Russia.
