Union Berlin defender Danilo says his side's dramatic 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich has reinforced belief within the squad that they can compete with any team in the Bundesliga, especially at the Alte Försterei, where the club's home form has remained one of the league's strongest.

As the second most dangerous center back in Europe, Danilo has scored six goals this season, four in the league, two in the cup. The last two came at the game against the league leaders, when Bayern had to wait until the 93rd minute to equalize, dropping points for the first time this season.

Speaking to Xinhua and other media on Wednesday, the Brazilian center-back reflected on a night he described as "insane", after scoring twice against the defending champions. "You hope to score against a top side like Bayern, who had won 16 straight," he said. "To get two and so close to win was insane. It was an amazing feeling."

Union became the first team this season to seriously trouble Bayern, and Danilo credited a clear, aggressive game plan. "We know it's not easy [for Bayern] to play in our stadium with the fans behind us." Playing with aggression from the first minute and winning the majority of duels, he believes, is what makes the team work well.

Union's home support has become one of the defining features of the club's rise, and Danilo described the atmosphere at the Alte Försterei as unmatched. "The fans are unbelievable. Standing sections make it louder, and opponents feel that pressure. It gives us confidence before the game even starts."

The two clubs will meet again soon in the cup [on December 3rd], and Danilo believes Union can draw confidence from their league performance. "We have to bring the same energy. They'll prepare better, but if we win duels and keep the crowd behind us, we know we can beat anyone at our place.
