France coach Didier Deschamps praised his striker Kolo Muani after his 2 goals awarded the win to France over Belgium 2-1 in their Nations League match on Monday as they put one foot into the quarter finals. Kolo Muani scored a penalty and a header as France held off their opponents despite being a 10-men team after their captain Aurelien Tchouameni was sent off after a second booking. Muani has been a rare starter for his team Paris Saint-Germain this season but has four goals in as many games for France. Deschamps has said to TF1 that "He’s interesting, he’s radiant," "he is confident and has a very specific profile where in his runs with the ball there is presence. He is a good header and with us he is very often successful." reported by Reuters. Belgium had dominated the opening exchanges and would have scored first if their captain Youri Tielemans did not miss a penalty. France were without their star player Kylian Mbappe, who decided to skip their Nations League matches, and had several less experienced players in their lineup. Their group is led by Italy with 10 points, followed by France with 9 and Belgium with 4. The top two teams qualify for the quarter-finals that will be played in March 2025.
