Liverpool coach Arne Slot considered his team's loss to host Tottenham 1-0 on Wednesday in the first leg of the English League Cup semi-finals to be unfair.
Swedish player Lukas Bergfal scored Tottenham's winning goal in the 86th minute.
A minute before scoring, Bergfal made a strong tackle on Liverpool defender Konstantinos Tsimikas, but he did not receive a second yellow card . which would have meant his dismissal from the game.
After the match, Slot told Sky Sports: "I never felt we were going to lose here."
Regarding the referee's performance and whether Bergfal deserved a second yellow card.
Slot commented: "The decision made by the referee had a big impact on the result of the match tonight... I think everyone will tell you that."
He added: "The fourth official told me why he thought it wasn’t a second yellow card, and maybe he heard that from the referee. He said the referee considered that Bergfal’s tackle wasn’t reckless."
The return leg between Liverpool and Tottenham is scheduled for Thursday, February 6th, atA nfield.
