President El-Sisi emphasized that Egypt values its close historical relations with Jordan, at both the official and popular levels, as well as their joint efforts to further advance their bilateral cooperation, so as to fulfill the aspirations of their peoples for development and prosperity. The meeting focused on the latest Egyptian and Jordanian efforts to achieve calm in the region. The two countries affirmed their unequivocal and firm position on the necessity to intensify earnest international efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and to ensure the delivery of adequate quantities of needed humanitarian aid and relief to save the region from a massive humanitarian crisis. They stressed that an independent Palestinian State, along the June 4, 1967 borders, is the fundamental guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. They also underscored the danger of the path of military escalation, which further complicates the situation and poses a grave threat to regional security and the well-being of the peoples in the region.
