Airport closed in U.S. state New Jersey due to aircraft emergency

Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, the United States, is closed until 11 p.m. Wednesday (0400 GMT Thursday), local media reported.

Earlier, a JetBlue flight returned to the airport due to engine failure. The plane landed safely with no injuries reported and passengers were evacuated via slides.

Flight operations were suspended while crews worked to remove the plane from the taxiway, according to airport authorities.
