Amber heat warning as UK faces 38°C peak and safety risks

London- Alsharq Tribune- Mohamed Otaify

The Met Office has issued an amber extreme heat warning for parts of central, eastern and southeastern England, with peak temperatures forecast to hit 36–38°C on Thursday.

While lower humidity than June’s heatwave may ease discomfort slightly, the heat is still unusual for the UK and poses risks to health, transport, and infrastructure.

Summer 2026 has already seen prolonged hot spells, and only modestly above-average temperatures for the rest of August could make it the warmest UK summer on record.

Record-breaking heat:

Temperatures could reach 38°C in parts of England, with summer 2026 likely to set a new UK heat record.

Vehicle safety alert:

Motorists are warned about tyre failures and melting roads, with pre-journey checks urged before August travel.

Protect your devices:

Experts advise keeping laptops, electronics, and heat-sensitive items out of hot cars to avoid damage or fire.
