Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed to his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday that the international community must bear its responsibility to support the implementation of a two-state solution as a guarantee for achieving stability in the Middle East
According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders discussed regional developments during a phone call, focusing on Gaza.
During their call, President El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s ongoing efforts to ensure the full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which includes facilitating the exchange of captives and detainees.
El-Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s commitment to delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza to ease the severe humanitarian crisis, as well as plans to initiate urgent reconstruction efforts to restore dignity to the people of the strip and make the area viable again.
For his part, French President Macron expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s efforts, recognizing its crucial and proactive role in fostering regional stability.
The call also addressed the situation in Syria, with two presidents reaffirming their commitment to preserving the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
Regarding Lebanon, El-Sisi and Macron underscored their support for Lebanon’s leadership and government.
They also emphasized the importance of reinforcing the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon to restore stability in the country.
Additionally, El-Sisi and Macron reaffirmed the strong and lasting relationship between Egypt and France, concurring on their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
They also agreed to mantaining consultation on regional and international issues.
