Pakistan's southern Sindh province has reported three more deaths from dengue fever in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities this year to six, according to the provincial health department.
Two of the latest victims, a 30-year-old woman from Malir and a 65-year-old man from Karachi's West district, died at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital, while an 18-year-old girl from Hyderabad district died at Liaquat University Hospital, officials said.
The department's latest data showed that more than 1,400 people tested positive for dengue in the province during the past 24 hours, including 618 cases in Karachi and 793 in Hyderabad. Over 200 patients were also admitted to hospitals across Sindh during the same period.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid self-medication, maintain proper hydration, and seek timely medical advice to prevent complications such as internal bleeding and low platelet counts.
Officials said the true scale of the outbreak remains unclear, as many private hospitals and clinics do not report their data to government health authorities.
