French President Emmanuel Macron will pay a state visit to China from Wednesday to Friday at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Macron, 48, was born in the northern French city of Amiens in 1977. After graduating from the Philosophy Department of Paris Nanterre University, he went on to attend the Paris Institute of Political Studies and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration.
He became deputy general secretary of the French presidency in 2012, and assumed the office of minister for economy, industry and digital affairs in August 2014.
He was elected French president in May 2017 and re-elected in April 2022.
Macron is married to Brigitte Macron.
