The Qantas Group said on Friday that the flagship airline and budget carrier Jetstar have extended service cuts for an additional three months due to high fuel costs.
The group said in a statement that a five percent cut in domestic capacity originally slated to affect Qantas and Jetstar services from May to June has been extended for three months until the end of September.
Additionally, it said that Qantas services from Sydney to the Indian city of Bengaluru have been temporarily suspended from August until the end of October and that both carriers have cut flights to New Zealand.
Aircraft will be redeployed to operate more Qantas flights between Australia and Europe amid strong demand.
The changes will reduce international capacity across the Qantas Group by two percentage points for the three months to the end of September.
