The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that its forces had carried out a missile strike targeting a gathering of Ukrainian military commanders and foreign military trainers in the city of Kryvyi Rih, located in central Ukraine.
In a statement, the ministry said the strike hit a restaurant where "formation commanders and Western trainers" were meeting, using a high-precision missile equipped with high-explosive warheads.
According to the ministry, the strike resulted in the deaths of up to 85 individuals, including Ukrainian military personnel and foreign officers.
The statement also claimed that the Ukrainian side lost up to 20 military vehicles as a result of the operation.
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian authorities reported that 14 people were killed and dozens injured in a Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih.
Local sources said a ballistic missile struck a residential area, killing 14 civilians, including five children, and injuring at least 50 others. The number of wounded is expected to rise as emergency response efforts continue.
