South Korea's exports rose in single digits in the first 10 days of November due to strong demand for locally-made semiconductors and automobiles, customs office data showed Tuesday.
Exports came to 15.82 billion U.S. dollars in the Nov. 1-10 period, up 6.4 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to Korea Customs Service.
The single-digit expansion was attributable to a double-digit increase in shipment for chips and cars.
Semiconductor exports surged 17.7 percent, and automotive shipments advanced 16.2 percent.
Exports of ships grew 8.7 percent, but exports of oil products, mobile devices and steel products declined in double figures.
Imports swelled 8.2 percent from a year earlier to 17.04 billion dollars in the first 10 days of November, sending the trade deficit to 1.22 billion dollars.
