The United States increases gold imports for the first time since June 2021.

U.S. statistical data shows that the United States ,has doubled its monthly gold imports since Donald Trump's victory in the presidential elections, with a value exceeding two billion dollars for the first time since June 2021.

The United States sharply increased its gold purchases in November of last year, doubling the average monthly value of the previous ten months.

On a monthly and yearly basis, U.S. gold purchases also nearly doubled, reaching $2.16 billion.

This made November's gold purchases the highest since June 2021, surpassing the $2 billion mark for the first time during this period.

This trend continued in December : during that month, the United States imported gold worth $3.19 billion—1.5 times more than the November figures and 2.5 times higher than last year's numbers.

December's imports reached their highest level since July 2020, when they totaled $3.74 billion.

In terms of physical quantities, U.S. gold purchases increased in November, nearly doubling to a peak of 27 tons, the highest since April 2023.

In December, purchases rose by another 1.4 times, reaching a peak of 38.1 tons, the highest since July 2020.

For the entire year of 2024, U.S. gold purchases amounted to $15.94 billion, a 6% increase compared to 2023.

In terms of physical volume, imports totaled 220.2 tons.

The United States purchased the largest amount of gold from Canada—$4.53 billion, Mexico—$2.6 billion, Switzerland—$2 billion, Colombia—$1.84 billion, and Australia—$1.07billion.
