Turkish, Jordanian leaders discuss regional stability amid Mideast tensions

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday met with Jordan's King Abdullah II in Istanbul amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

The two leaders held a closed-door meeting, followed by talks between their respective delegations, at the working office of the Turkish presidency.

Türkiye's Directorate of Communications said the discussions covered bilateral relations, regional developments and possible steps to help ensure stability.

The two leaders compared notes about developments in the Gaza Strip and the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan, emphasizing the need to maintain the ceasefire, condemning ongoing Israeli violations, stressing the importance of constant humanitarian aid, and rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians, the Qatar News Agency quoted sources as saying.

The visit comes as the two sides seek to deepen coordination on regional crises and humanitarian issues, including both the Gaza conflict and broader tensions involving Iran and the United States.
