Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has discussed the current regional situation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, local media reported Monday.

In a phone conversation, they discussed the latest developments in the region and their implications for regional security and stability. They also exchanged greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the significance of the negotiations between the United States and Iran, noting that positive progress in such talks would help strengthen regional security, advance prosperity and stability for the peoples of the region, and contribute to regional and international peace, said WAM.

The development follows two rounds of indirect nuclear talks between the United States and Iran this month, with the first in Muscat on Feb. 6 and the second in Geneva on Feb. 17. Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi said on Sunday that the next round of U.S.-Iran talks will take place on Thursday in Geneva.
