Vietnam aims to raise its gross domestic product (GDP) per capita to about 8,500 U.S. dollars by 2030, according to the adjusted National Master Plan, local daily Nhan Dan reported Tuesday.

Under the adjusted plan, the service sector is expected to contribute over 50 percent of GDP, while the industry and construction sector will account for more than 40 percent.

The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector is projected to make up less than 10 percent.

The plan sets an overall goal for Vietnam to become a developing country with a modern industrial base and upper-middle-income status by 2030.

According to the National Statistics Office, Vietnam's GDP per capita in 2024 was estimated at about 4,700 dollars.
